Harbor of Spies

HARBOR OF SPIES by Robin LLoyd

Last winter I was asked by my friend Robin Lloyd to review the editor’s draft of his new novel "Harbor of Spies". Our friendship had sparked through his inquires about our coasting schooner Grace Bailey which is very similar to the boat described in his book.  Having read his first novel, “Rough Passage to London: A Sea Captain’s Tale”, I felt honored to be asked.  I tucked the manuscript into my sea bag and left for Brazil. I was off on my second adventure aboard the Severios of Bahia, a small fleet of cargo vessels still operating under sail in the region.

I had an amazing time delivering cargo, racing and at times sailing with my daughter Kristi aboard. As no one spoke English, and I no Portuguese I was happy to have the company of this book. I found it believable, technically accurate with a well developed plot and enough sailing adventure to keep me excited to read more.

I highly recommend this book as a good read on your next sailing adventure or anytime for that matter!

Robins book will be released March 1, 2018, but can be purchaseD by pre-order from Amazon at the link below.
