Maine Windjammer Cruises supports the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1998 that prohibits the unlawful manufacture, distribution, dispensation, possession, or use of illegal drugs or alcohol in the workplace. The consumption of alcohol while on duty or less than six hours prior to assuming duties is strictly prohibited, and there is to be absolutely no drinking on any company property, including the schooners without permission of the owner, Capt. Ray Williamson. Any employee is considered to be on duty any time he or she is working or anytime there are passengers aboard. The use of tobacco products by employees on any company schooner is prohibited. Any employee who violates this policy will be subject to appropriate disciplinary action, up to and including discharge. Employees (captains, deckhands, etc.) whose responsibilities include navigation or safe handling of the vessel are required to provide pre-employment drug testing and are subject to random drug testing during the season.
