Send us your submissions, and we will post them for you in the Old Salts section of our website as soon as possible. Here is the information that we need:
1. Your name and email address—for contact from us only. If you don't have email, then please include your mailing address and a daytime phone number.
2. Your boarding date and schooner (Grace Bailey, Mercantile, or Mistress)
3. Name as you want it to appear on log. Ex. Jane & John Doe (or) Jim Smith (or) Roger Jones & Family
4. Title for your log. We will post your log under your boat name and boarding date, so please use a descriptive title here.
5. Introductory text to show on front of log. We need at least a sentence or two, but if you include written material in your log that's separate from your photo captions, we can use an extract from that.
DIGITAL PHOTOS
Send us your best photos (up to five). If the technical information below doesn't mean anything to you, please don't worry about it. Just send them via email the way you would normally send them.
Write a caption—as long or short as you choose—for each photo and clearly indicate who should be credited as the photographer. Please correlate the captions with the photo file names.
For Techies
When we post your photos on our site, we upload JPEG digital images at 72 dpi with a maximum width of 400 pixels. The
height is then adjusted automatically. Please attach your photos rather than inserting them. If you use a photo manipulation program such as Adobe Photoshop, please keep your files as small as possible. Black and white photos are
acceptable, but avoid extremely high contrast.
PRINTS FROM FILM CAMERAS
If you take photos with a film camera and are unable to scan them, you may send us prints for possible inclusion in the Trip Logs. Time permitting, we will scan them and post them for you. Please label the reverse side, in a manner that doesn't bleed through to the front, with the photographer’s name, boarding date and boat name on each. Include a cover letter to add captions and other pertinent information. (Please see the general information above.)
Mail your prints to Logs, c/o Maine Windjammer Cruises, P.O. Box 617, Camden, ME 04843.
JOURNALS
We would enjoy posting abstracts from journals, poetry or other creative writing about your vacation with us. We prefer to receive text within email rather than as an attachment. Please indicate "Journal" in the subject line of your email and include pertinent information from the general section above.
PAINTINGS & DRAWINGS
We also hope to include your paintings and drawings in the Trip Logs. Please email logs@mainewindjammercruises.com with the word "Artwork" in the subject line and a description of your piece in the message, and we will get back to you with more information.
Questions?
Email logs@mainewindjammercruises.com with the word "Question" in the subject line, and we will get back to you with an answer to you as soon as we can. If you have a spam filter, please set it to accept mail from that address.
By submitting your copyrighted work to Maine Windjammer Cruises® you are giving us permission to use it on our website without any fee or further consideration. We reserve the right to edit or otherwise modify submissions at our discretion and to choose not to use all submissions.
